The pride and joy of the farm are the Jersey Dairy Cows! Our "girls" all have names, and know them, too!
Betsy, Dixie, Betty Lou, Ellie May, Maggie, Molly, Leah and Lillie enjoy life on our farm!
As a small, Grade A, DHEC certified, micro-dairy, we milk each cow individually, twice a day, every day.
We keep a herd of only 5-8 cows in milk so that we can spend quality time with them and have a true
knowledge of their health and well being.
Our girls spend their days out on the pasture and are never given hormones or steroids. When they
have babies, the calves are with their momma until they are ready to eat and survive on their own.
Our dairy cows are allowed to just be cows, the way God intended.
We also keep a group of young calves at the farm, along with the necessary bull.
To round out the farm, we raise chickens for both egg and meat production, and have sheep, Nubian goats, pigeons, pigs, a few guinea fowl and a peacock!
In addition to our range of traditional farm animals, we also enjoy our Belgian Draft Horse "Maggie". Maggie is a working part of our farm
and helps with everything from plowing the fields and gardens, to pulling the cart to ride the fence line for repairs. You can see Maggie in
action on our YouTube channel- One Ash Plantation.
You can find a lot more pictures and keep up with what's going on at One Ash on our Facebook page- One Ash Plantation.
